Google Webmaster Tools Now Showing Clickthrough Data

Greg Shuey

Late last night I logged into my Google Webmaster Tools account to find that Google is now showing me clickthrough data on all of my websites. After reading the official announcement from Google, it looks like it is going to be a permanent addition to this already awesome tool set. It also looks like this is only showing data on organic search traffic.

Here is a screen shot from one of my websites showing impressions by keyword, number of clickthroughs by keyword, and clickthrough rate by keyword.

To find this data in your account, go to the “Your site on the web” tab and then click on “Top search queries.”

I am stoked to dive further into this data for each of my personal websites and for each of my clients. Every search engine optimization strategist out there should be praising Google for releasing this information because this is going to be a huge help in optimizing title tags and meta descriptions for higher clickthrough rates.

    • I have, especially for long-tail keywords which only deliver a small amount of traffic to my clients website. The discrepancy between Google Adwords Keyword Tool and Google Webmaster Tools is probably even more pronounced.

  5. Daniel, in terms of traffic?

The CTR will never be shown in Analytics. Please clarify what you mean by your question.

  6. I noticed the change of course, but I am kinda sad about the fact I can no longer use Google webmaster tools to check what position my website has for certain keywords. I think it was a great addition, but they should not have taken away search position.
