The important thing that people believe when looking at content management systems (CMS) is their capability in the SEO market. It has been seen that people are sometimes scared to prefer a CMS on the basis that it may not be optimized enough for their needs. I personally believe that this post is helpful.

The year is 2011 already, but the things still the same:
WordPress, Joomla and Drupal – very good for SEO, but the old problems still there: “heavy” core and performance issues, especially with broken non-functional plugins, after core upgrades.

Probably, the best solution for static content sites is NotePad

While it can be harder to learn, I agree that joomla is one of the best CMS’s out there.

I am with the author on this one. I have used all the leading CMS’s and even though I prefer Joomla! over all of them with WordPress as close as an equal. It does not matter what one you use as long as the code is clean, you are diligent updating it and providing fresh relevant content and make sure to use proper page by page keywords, you will rank for your keywords. Of course inbound links help as does all the good practice of SEO.

I gave up looking for the easy way out years ago and just write good clean code. Well as best I can anyway and not get greedy with it. Honest wholesome sites always seem to find their way if they are worked on and maintained.

Exactly the same debate for 10 years now. ModX… 4 years is releasing version 2 “revolution?”. In Open Source there is 3 actives : drupal, joomla, wordpress. The rest are just attempts. It will be great if this chancges, but for over 5 years it is the same. Oh and plone, really great to play but no way to use. So heavy that akamai [ yes akamai ] left plone after tryout on line for maybe month?

I’d say Joomla is the best SEO CMS out there, but you have to keep a close eye on it. You will have to tweek some core code but it’s worth it in the long run.

Have you looked at MODxCMS? I’ve been using it for months now and it’s fantastic! To the best of my understanding, it can easily handle everything you’ve mentioned above and more.

Great wrap up of what CMS should do. I have people ask me all the time about which one they should use, and my answer mirrors yours. I can’t tell them what’s best, but I can tell them to ask exactly what it is they really need. Of course, I emphasize the ability to apply SEO, and if they are terrified of HTML, then I tell them WYSIWYG is their best friends.
