I just wanted someone to find me playing guitar and singing, I didn't want to have to take a half a day to SEO each video I make. I already spend about and hour in post just syncing the audio and video tracks back up. I guess if these little videos were money makers I'd worry about them much more. If you want to check me out, i'm rvbarrett on youTube.

Thanks for the tips, I should use them on my video blog, but I have just been focused on SEO of the blog, not the raw video files on youTube. I guess that it would pay to work both ends of the pipe so to speak.

I have been using You Tube to create awareness for our remote control mowers and here are some things I have learned. I started out focused on ranking high for search and realized no one is searching for remote control mowers. Yet. I have had my most success by posting video responses to the right videos. When looking for a video to respond to, pay attention to, not just how many views that video has, but how often. If the last comment was posted a week ago, it is not a good idea to post a response to it even if it does have a zillion views. A video with too much traffic is not a good idea because your video will get knocked out of plain view quickly by other video responses making your video have a short shelf life on that response. Also, if the video owner does not accept all responses, you can find one that does. However if you chance it that he may accept your response, your video will have a longer shelf life on his video.
It is so important to be active within the community. Don't spam people's channel pages or videos. Just be friends and give helpful information. Make people curious about you without spamming. My icon is a mower labeled r/c mower and I am on every r/c hobby related channel I can find offering advice. The channel I am using I bought from person who created it in 06. Why? When I give advice on related channels, I subscribe. And, because my channel is old, I am listed at the top of his subscribers list in plain view to others who visit his channel. You Tube doesn't go by when a person subscribes, but how old your channel is. I also have multiple channels for popular subjects that generate a lot of channel views with my mower video playing on that channel. Although most people do not watch a video on a channel page it still counts as a view as long as it is on auto-play. The more views a video has the more tempting it is to watch. My getviewed network consists of a group of us who get our videos featured so they show up first on related videos. It is very important to get your video featured.
