I agree with the fact that it is important to augment organic SEO with paid listings… especially directed towards competitors. I have used this a number of times while promoting small businesses.

Great post, this is another example where getting a nice one box sitting pretty at the top of the search results for any term related to your brand / company name comes in handy.

I also like the fact that you identified the various reasons behind why people search and how far along they are in the sales cycle. It really does boil down to positioning, content and call to action for most, but you made some great points that were extremely expansive, very concise!

I guess I do the same, although I usually try the obvious domain first and then resort to a search if it doesn’t pull up the right site.

I utilize navigational searches all day. It’s really handy when I don’t know how to spell a product or company name.
