Google Plus: The Ultimate Guide to Ultimate Guides

Google Plus

I love Google Plus. To me, it’s no accident that the network has seen explosive growth in the number of active users over the past year. As Google continues to integrate its social network and add a “social layer” to its other products and services, I expect this upward trend to continue.

Google Plus: The Power Is the People

Google+ has slowly become my preferred social network over the past year for many reasons. I love the moderated communities. I enjoy the rich, meaningful conversations I have with people from all over the world who share similar interests. I love that I can utilize the network as a micro-blogging platform and can edit and update my posts as needed. To me, the icing on the cake is the friendships and connections I’ve established while engaging with other users.

I’d like other users to have the same experience I’ve had on the network so I’m sharing a collection of awesome resources, guides, and posts I’ve collected and bookmarked over the past year. Each entry highlights tips and best practices for users and businesses on Google+ posting, etiquette, sharing, Google authorship, hangouts, circles and everything in-between.  I feel all of the resources listed will provide value to any new or seasoned user on the network.

    Hey Brian,

First of all thanks for sharing this valuable information about GooglePlus. It’s an great resource and I believe it’s a great resource to get A to Z idea on how to utilize Google+ to maximize your online marketing efforts.

The biggest advantage with Google’s social platform aka Google+ I see the desperation of Google merging it to all their products, be it be organic searches, paid advertising etc. Devoting time at Google+ is all going to make you win with your social, organic and all other online marketing strategies and at no point an intelligent agency or someone who believes in future offerings afford to ignore Google+ benefits.

Kudos to your effort and sharing it with everyone! Keep up the good stuff and thought provoking stuff sharing.

    Good Luck!

While I can’t say it is my most used social network. I can say it is the one I find the most informative. I love the communities on Google Plus and spend time in them almost everyday for both work and play. I also love using Google Hangouts with Google+ for business presentations and communication with family and friends. Thanks for sharing the Ultimate guide post.

From a marketing point of view, I’m sure Google+ has a lot to offer. However, I wanted to share my thoughts from an end-user point of view, and where some of the “explosive growth” might have come from.

I currently do not have a Google+ account. Well, that’s not entirely accurate. You see, I don’t use any of the Google services, save the viewing and posting of videos to YouTube. About six months ago, YouTube started requiring me to create a Google account. After trying to play by the new rules, I was barraged with emails and alerts about all the things I should be doing with Google. But I didn’t want to do any of those things, so I deleted my Google+ account, or I tried to, but it’s still there.

However, deleting my account resulted in the deletion of every single comment I ever made to any YouTube video…without any forewarning. It was very reminiscent of the Microsoft Windows 98 days, during which Microsoft was making sure I and other Windows users paid a penalty for using a different browser on their OS. I think that a lot of the growth of which you speak stems from Google requiring users to sign up for ALL their services, regardless of whether they use them or not. It’s like going to a salad bar and learning you have to put everything on your salad, or else you don’t get a salad.

In the same way Microsoft claimed the #1 most visited website by making MSN.com the default home page of Internet Explorer, I feel like Google+ has been able to rack up big numbers simply though compulsory user signups. Perhaps Google+ is a good thing. But in my case, being told by Google that I MUST use their social networking if I want to use any other service does not endear me to their products and services.

Great information shared. I have been personally using G+ and I feel that its quite undervalued as far as the Social Media marketing tools are concerned. I agree that the communities that are present in G+ is a great tool to build your network. There is another huge difference in using G+ platform. The Google Plus network , directly or indirectly influences the search results of people you have in your “Circle”.

G+ social media provides many facilities and advantages for the owner of the website, in addition, the website owner also can display their images/photo in the Google search results. It looks very sweet and consumers will have more confidence to us. Thanks
