Twitter Reveals Ad Platform – Promoted Tweets

promoted tweets by twitter
According to the New York Times, Twitter is planning on launching its brand-spankin-new ad platform which they are calling “Promoted Tweets.”

These Promoted Tweets will show up when Twitter users search within Twitter for keywords that advertisers are bidding on. Several large companies have already committed to running ads through Promoted Tweets, some of which are Best Buy, Virgin America, Starbucks, & Bravo.

The COO of Twitter, Dick Costolo had this to say about Promoted Tweets: “The idea behind Promoted Tweets is that we want to enhance the communications that companies are already having with customers on Twitter”

Leveraging Twitter and other social media platforms have been very beneficial for search engine marketers to boost SEO efforts and drive more traffic to their websites, so it will be very interesting to see how well Promoted Tweets works for advertisers and what kind of ROI we will see with this program.

Can’t wait to try this out. Didn’t really get into Facebook ads, but as a big Adwords user I’m always looking for new ways to get targeted traffic. This sounds interesting.
