Though the links in profiles happen to be no follow I always use proper anchor text for the links you are allowed to post on your profile. I realize that 'no follow' means 'no follow' but with Google taking social signals into consideration so much lately it can't hurt to have things set up properly now.

It appears they've recently switched from straight links to a 302 redirect. However I still see sites ranking for peoples specifc anchors in their LinkedIn profiles. I'm working on a case study of this.

Great tip, thanks!
Not only did I improve my links by adding anchor text thanks to your article, I also explored the possibility of changing my profile URL. I never spent enough time to discover these possibilities.
It would be useful to know if the way the links appear (as per some other comments above (i.e, my URL is fr.imagineoutlet.com but this appears as http://www.linkedin.com/redirect?url=http%3A%2F%2Ffr%2EImagineOutlet%2Ecom&urlhash=v8NR) take away all positive SEO effects.
Still, it's definitely worth implementing, very small effort with (maybe)a high return. In any case, my profile looks much better now, thanks Adam!

Hello,

How can you make sure that your linkedin professional headline appears in the TITLE of the Google Search Result. I noticed that most people have only their name in the search result title and below that the professional headline but some people have the professional headline right up there in the search result title making for a much higher SEO. any advice?

Re - Linkedin - Profile Links - SEO - Nofollow -
Good point by Steve last Nov 2009.
The links in your Linkedin profile do not help the page rank of your website/blog, et al.
The public links are nofollow, and inside Linkedin the links are redirected using a Java script.
I recommend to still change the text 'My Website' to the name of your company.
Useful for the humans that click on the links though ;-)
Not for ranking in search engines.

Good point. I just changed mine from My Website to a specific title. It was funny about a year ago I was playing with the "other" but did but did not conclude it could be a website title. Thanks
