I am a huge fan of Ayn Rand myself and I think that it is we "SEO people" who are the Atlases who choose to carry the SEO world on our back while the "Powers that be" who pretend to have control are the Search Engines. In the ultimate sense, it is they (Search Engines) who rely on us for them to make a living while they thrive on making the game (unlike chess which is a favorite example of Ayn Rand) as ambiguous and almost arbitrary as possible to keep their illusory control.

If it weren't for us Internet Marketers, Google wouldn't be having as many advertisers as they do today. Companies rarely get convinced on their own to put their marketing money on Search. It takes SEO people to convince them that it's a good idea. Ultimately, the only reason I believe why it is a good idea in the first place is because of what we SEO people do.

And on getting penalized? Yeah. I've had my share of that. Especially as an AdSense publisher. I've been denied my honest earnings (as much as USD $11K I think) for reasons that are as ambiguous, arbitrary and subjective as can be and they don't even feel like they owe people like us a clear explanation.

It's time for us to show Google who's makes the motor of the SEO world go round.

First of all thank you for your comment. For all I know you might even be Matt Cutts in disguise as "Matt Storms." Eh? Regardless, I apologize but I do not completely understand your questions. With respect, the first is an incomplete statement. Concerning the second, what exactly do you mean by "tactics"? If you mean someone intentionally implementing devious means and trying to fool Search Engines for SEO purposes, then yes I have heard of people being penalized for that.

Regards

I liked your article, yet I have a few questions. You talk about SEO doctrine there is so much info out there that nobody can keep up on it. Second, have you ever heard of anyone being penalized for tactics? If you can I would like a response.
