The SEO company is providing Ascend Humanitarian Alliance $30,000 worth of search marketing services to help needy children in third-world countries. Nelson James, president of SEO.com, talks about what how his company is helping in the video below:

SALT LAKE CITY – SEO.com has partnered with ASCEND, A Humanitarian Alliance, to boost the charitable organization’s online presence, and to ultimately help poverty-stricken children by increasing awareness and donations.

“Over the years, ASCEND has done tremendous work, whether its building schools and hospitals, cleaning water or providing leadership and skills to people in third world countries,” said Nelson James, president of SEO.com. “We wanted to be part of that.”

SEO.com, an SEO company and search marketing firm, is providing $30,000 worth of search marketing services to increase website traffic and turn more of that traffic into donations. SEO.com will also give the international charity for children 15 percent of any funds from clients ASCEND refers.

“We’re grateful for SEO.com’s efforts in helping us have a broader presence online,” said Carolyn Dailey, president and CEO of ASCEND. “We’ll be able to reach more people who are willing to give up a few dollars to help kids in need.”

ASCEND sends expeditions to countries like Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Mozambique and Ethiopia to help build schools and hospitals; provide education and onsite training; medical services; and to build facilities like irrigations systems, wells, pumps, sanitary latrines, stoves, green houses, food storage systems, and community centers.

“Many children in these countries would be without clean water, shelter and other basic things we take for granted, if not for what ASCEND has done,” James said. “But it takes money to accomplish ASCEND’s goals. By helping Ascend get more website traffic, we hope to significantly increase donations and volunteers for this exceptional organization.”

About ASCEND
ASCEND is a unique organization of caring people who make a difference at home and around the world by offering the tools and resources for life-changing programs in education, enterprise, health and simple technology. ASCEND strives to Empower those in need to ASCEND out of poverty. It educates and empowers communities in need to achieve sustainability and end the cycle of poverty.

SEO.com helps bring Seth Godin to a Utah networking event that will send all proceeds to “The Red Cross for Haiti Relief Fund.”

SALT LAKE CITY (Feb. 2, 2010) – SEO.com, a search marketing firm, is sponsoring Startup Princess to bring renowned author, speaker and marketer Seth Godin to a fundraising luncheon Feb. 12 at the Rail Events Center. All proceeds from the event will go to The Red Cross for Haiti Relief Fund.

“We’re honored to help out the Red Cross and the people in Haiti,” said Dave Bascom, president of SEO.com. “We’re also excited to be part of this event and to help bring a well-respected marketer to the local business community.”

The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Godin will speak at noon. Tickets are $30 and will include lunch. There will be exhibitor tables and networking opportunities. To purchase tickets, and for more information, go to http://www.startupprincess.com/sethgodin .

Godin’s presentation will be surrounding the messages from his new book, “Linchpin: Are You Indispensable.” 200 copies of the book will be available to attendees at a reduced price.

“His overall presentation will be about being ‘indispensable’ and ‘mattering,’ by making a difference in your work and your life,” said Kelly King Anderson of StartupPrincess.com. “The charity event really matches Godin’s message. We are really excited that the two have come together.”

This is the second time SEO.com has donated money and time to help support the Red Cross. The SEO company has done pro bono work for the Utah Valley chapter of the Red Cross to help improve its search engine rankings. SEO.com also has given back to the community by helping Camp Kostopulous Dream Foundation, Grassroots.org and The Green Building Center with various search marketing services.

“Charity work is part of our core culture,” Bascom said. “As we grow we hope to continue doing good work for the community and for quality organizations.”

We have a very close relationship with Grassroots.org, so I was happy to jump in and speak on the “Giving Back” panel when Katie got stranded in New York due to weather delays and couldn’t get to Chicago for her panel on Monday. I didn’t have a lot of prep time, but Katie had a good powerpoint presentation and notes, so I just had to make sure not to introduce myself as Katie, and throw in a couple stupid jokes and I was set. I was hoping to have more SEO people in the crowd, but since a lot of people hadn’t shown up yet, and those that were there didn’t make it to our session, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to mention something here on the blog. There are basically two calls to action I want to give you depending on who you are.

1. If you are a non-profit and need help with online marketing and SEO, or any of the other services offered by Grassroots.org, get over there and Signup for Grassroots.org. Also, be sure to check out our Non-Profit SEO Guide for tips on getting started with SEO for your non-profit.

2. If you’re an SEO and you want to volunteer some of your time to offer your expertise to help a non-profit improve their search engine visibility, contact me through this form

We really enjoy helping out these non-profits in conjunction with Grassroots. Grassroots is a great organization that provides valuable services that allow non-profits to stretch their budgets and do things they wouldn’t be able to do otherwise. As they continue to grow and bring on more and more non-profits, we won’t be able to handle all the requests. If you’re willing to lend a hand, it’s a great way to give something back and start putting out some of that good karma. You’ll be glad you did.

Also, while I’m at it, I might as well put in a quick plug for my fellow panelists, Darian, (Craigslist Foundation ), Ben (Change.org), and Nan (Serengeti Communications) all great people doing cool stuff.
