Hi Nick,

I get your question regarding SEO, but in the SoLoMo world, not everything is about traditional SEO. People are not using google to find these apps, they are in the app enjoying the search experience they get there. I do not consider Foursquare to be just a "social" app. =)

I am not sure this is considered a "good" link, but I do consider it a great platform that businesses are not taking advantage of.

Thanks for the comment!

I get the social aspect of the article and I also love using Foursquare to check-in and to find businesses close by.
As for SEO, does a business listing help an owner with local search results outside of the app? Is the link in the profile of the business a "good" link?
Just curious as to your thoughts on that. Thanks!

Small Businesses can't afford to ignore social media in whatever service/product industry they are. You've had provided with quite good motivational checkpoints for not only small business owner's but for everyone who want to increase their brand visibility online. The key is not to jump on every social site's, do some paper work, understand your audience on which platform they spent their time most. Like in case of someone selling beauty product's can target Pinterest (as most of female audience is out there). Likewise for other service/product industry.

It is advisable not to jump everywhere. Be selective and do the best at the most appropriate channel to get better returns of your investment, time & resource.

Half of the job has already done by Matt by providing you with where to start. Thanks Matt for to the point guidance.

Thank you Brian for your kind response.
I have already implemented the rel=publisher with my Google+ page.
But I wanted know the class="vcard org" or class="fn or" implementation with my Google+ page.
In simple, I just wanted to make "Edited and Published by Times of Assam"

If you see my linked site, you will see like:

Where the [author] for Google+ authorship and want to make the thing "Edited and Published by" for hAtom org entries. Hope you understand now.

Hi Dhruba, thanks for the comment. Verifying a Google+ brand page actually just got easier. You will need to have a separate Google+ brand page for your .org property in order to verify your rel=publisher tag. One option for implementation is to add the rel=publisher tag to your home page. The second method of implementation is if the email address you are using to set up the .org Google+ brand page is added as an admin in your Google Analytics account and this account is associated with a Webmaster Tools account, Google will recognize the association and verify the profile back to your .org website. I've done a small write up regarding this process here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/100938619255397146926/posts/1MzLKtjLsK6
